Glass Types Available
Tempered Glass
Tempered glass is special because of its enhanced strength, safety features, and thermal resistance, achieved through a heat treatment process that creates compressive stresses on the surface. This makes it significantly stronger than regular glass, less prone to breaking, and, when it does break, it shatters into small, blunt pieces, minimizing the risk of injury.
Laminated Glass
Laminated glass is the glazing solution of choice when safety and noise reduction are priorities. Laminated glass is constructed using a combination of high heat and intense pressure, fusing two panes, known as “lites,” together with one or more interlayers. This results in glass that has increased structural integrity and enhanced acoustical performance compared with monolithic glass.
Fire Rated Glass
Fire-rated glass is specially designed to prevent the spread of flames and smoke, and depending on product makeup, the transfer of radiant and conductive heat. In the world of fire safety, this is known as compartmentation. While many types of fire-rated materials can provide this form of protection, only fire-rated glass can do so while still allowing full vision for aesthetic, daylighting and security purposes.
